Happy Halloween Everybody! This is the first time I've ever given a holiday related deviation and I'm
quite proud of it.
This is the story of Mr. Smiley's first Halloween
A Holiday's Fright -- STORY
Mr. Smiley and I were just coming back inside from the playground, because it was getting dark.
I went over to Emily’s room to see what she was doing.
I see her sitting on her bed reading one of her many books.
But I’ve never seen that book before.
I walk over and sit right next to her.
She looks at me and says, “Oh, hi Amy. What are you doing here?”
I smiled and answered, “I was just wondering what you’re doing.”
Emily looked back at her book and said, “Oh, I’m just reading a book for the holiday season.”
I was confused and asked, “What holiday?”
Emily looked back at me with a surprised look and said, “For Halloween. This book I’m reading is the chilling tale of the headless horseman.”
I asked, “The headless horseman? Doesn't he need a head to ride a horse?”
Emily giggled and said, “Not really, little one. The headless horseman is a scary story about a ghostly, horseman, who rides through the night attacking people with his sword and his pumpkin head that laughs evilly to his victims.”
“That sounds scary,” I said feeling a chill on my back.
“Yes it is. That’s what I like about it during Halloween day,” she says.
“Halloween’s today?” I asked.
“Why, yes it is that day,” Emily answered.
I asked her, “Does anyone else know that it’s Halloween?”
Emily scratched her chin and said, “Well Oliver knows and his bucket knights too. I’ve also been seeing a bucket knight that has a jack-o-lantern for a head, roaming around the hospital. I think it’s pranking all of us by scaring us.”
“Did you see it?” I asked.
“Oh yes, definitely. Before I came to my room today, that pumpkin headed mannequin scared me in front of my own room. The pumpkin knight thought it was funny but I didn’t,” Emily said.
I looked down to think for a second.
I then had an idea.
I then said, “Hey Emily, what if we could scare the pumpkin knight? Maybe then it won’t be running around scaring us anymore.”
Emily thought about it and said, “That plan could work. But, I’m not scary enough to scare anyone. Maybe Mr. Smiley can help you. He always knows how to scare people.”
“Alright then. Tonight, me and Mr. Smiley are gonna scare a pumpkin knight,” I said.
I went over to the cafeteria to find Mr. Smiley.
The cafeteria was quiet and I couldn’t find anyone inside.
But then, I suddenly herd a bunch of pots and pans clanking around in the kitchen.
I walked over to the kitchen doors and opened them.
I then see Mr. Smiley there surrounded by fallen pots and pans, looking like he just fell down.
I ran over to Mr. Smiley to help him up.
“Mr. Smiley! Are you okay?” I asked him.
Mr. Smiley got back up and answered, “Yes Amy, I’m fine. I just got scared from something.”
I look over to where Mr. Smiley was looking at and nothing was there.
I look back at Mr. Smiley and ask, “Was the thing that scared you a bucket knight?”
Mr. Smiley answered, “Well, I think so. But it had a round orange head and a creepy smile.”
I giggled and said, “That’s a jack-o-lantern silly. It’s a pumpkin with a face carved in it to celebrate Halloween.”
Mr. Smiley looked confused, “Hal-ow-ween? What is this Hal-ow-ween?”
Both me and Mr. Smiley sat down as I explain to him what halloween was and what it was all about.
A few minutes later after explaining to him, Mr. Smiley kind of understood what I told him.
“So this Hallo-ween, is a holiday based on people scaring each other for fun and giving out candy at night time?” Mr. Smiley asked.
“Yes, and one of Oliver’s bucket knights is running around scaring everyone,” I said.
“What do you think we should do? Should we wait until Halloween’s over?” Mr. Smiley asked.
“No,” I said, “That pumpkin knight scared us. Now it’s our turn to scare it.”
Mr. Smiley then asked me, “But ho will we be able to scare it?”
I then answered, “That’s easy. We’re going to dress up like monsters and scare it when it least expects it.”
Mr. Smiley smiled, shaking his head yes.
And so both me and Mr. Smiley gathered lots of things in order to make our costumes.
I grabbed an old ripped up lab coat from the old rooms and made a paper plate mask.
While Mr. Smiley, grabbed a huge old, dusty blanket and ripped two eye-holes on it.
Together, we both looked like ghosts.
After getting out costumes finished, we finally found out where the pumpkin knight was going.
It was heading for the lower hallways.
Me and Mr. Smiley stood around the corner waiting.
“Remember Mr.Smiley, once the pumpkin knight come along here, we jump out and scare him silly,” I said.
We then suddenly hear the dragging sound of the pumpkin headed mannequin head our way.
Both me and Mr. Smiley readied ourselves.
And right when the pumpkin knight was about to come towards the corner, I then yelled out, “NOW!”
And we both jumped in front of the pumpkin knight roaring out at it.
And it worked.
The pumpkin knight got so scared that it was frozen in fear.
Both me and Mr. Smiley laughed super hard over how silly the pumpkin knight looked.
It was the best Halloween ever.
And I got to spend it with my bestest friend ever.
